Temporary Change of Sheffield Buccaneers Wednesday Fencing Venue

Posted on

Due to exams taking place in Birkdale School sports hall, there will be a change of venue from the 8th  May, i.e. FROM NEXT WEEK!!! Our club will meet at our occasional alternative venue – The Park Centre, Duke Street, Sheffield S2 5QP.  The entrance to the centre will be via the fire doors on Coates Street.  We will be using this alternative venue until the end of June. As many club members will know this venue is considerably smaller and so for this reason there will be priority for juniors use of space up till 8.30.  The club is also using the Heeley Hall at Birkdale School from 7.00 on Mondays where we are currently running a beginners course, regular club fencers are also welcome to fence here on Mondays.

End of the Month Competition for April 24

Posted on Updated on

On April 24th we had a fantastic ‘End of the Month’ competition with a total of 26 fencers taking part, many of them with strong National Ranking. This was part of a club training session with over 40 fencers. Again we used a ladder system ensuring everybody got the maximum amount of fencing and there were many fantastic bouts took place. It was very difficult to calculate the results as with the excitement and the enjoyment of fencing many fencers forgot to write down the results of bouts, though after comparing different score sheets I think I was able to get pretty close to the final positions which are –

  • 1 – Jeremy Chang
  • 2 – Archie Broughton
  • 3 – James Mullen
  • 4 – Sam Blair
  • 5 – Charlotte Peat – Winner of the Best Novice Trophy
  • 6 – Ron Law
