Husayn finishes 6th in the World Student Games
Husayn Rosowsky finished 6th in the world Student Games, defeating a succession of very good opponents, eventually going out 15-10 to world ranked number 3 Alexey Cheremisinov (RUS). Husayn describes “5 seconds of madness” when at 10-10 Cheremisinov fleched 3 times from the on guard line catching him by surprise, Husayn counter-attacked when defense with a step back would have served better. Husayn continues to show his world class capabilities in a very tough event.

Yorkshire Team Foil – Sunday 7th July
The Yorkshire Team Foil Championships will be taking place on Sunday 7th July at – Penistone Grammar School, Huddersfield Road, Penistone, Sheffield S36 7BX.
This is the Team Foil Championships for the Yorkshire Region of the British Fencing Association. Members of teams competing for the Yorkshire trophies should be either normally resident in Yorkshire or members of clubs within the Yorkshire Region. All participants should be members of the British Fencing Association and must have been 13 or older on the 1st January 2013. There will be medals for the top 3 Men’s and top 3 Women’s teams. Teams may be mixed, though mixed teams will compete for the Men’s prizes. The event will be run using a system of pools followed by direct elimination in which all places will be fought for. A good days fencing is absolutely guaranteed!

Husayn selected for World University Games
World University Games 2013: Husayn Rosowsky in squad
Olympian Husayn Rosowsky has been selected to represent the British Universities and College Sport Fencing team at the World University Games 2013 in Russia.
Rosowsky will be making his second appearance at the World University Games, after finishing sixth in Shenzhen in 2011.
He has since become senior British champion and competed for Great Britain at the London Olympic Games in 2012.
Rosowsky, of University of Greenwich, is joined by Marcus Mepstead of London School of Economics and Politics and Alex Tofalides of University College London for the tournament in Kazan.
The fencing trio will form part of a 175-strong British team comprising athletes from artistic gymnastics, badminton, football, judo, rugby sevens, shooting, swimming and tennis.
The World University Games is the second largest multi-sports event in the world, after the Olympic Games, with 13,000 athletes representing 170 countries.

Yorkshire Youth League – Sheffield 2013 – Results
The Sheffield leg of the Yorkshire Youth League 2013 was run on Sunday 16th June by Sheffield Buccaneers Fencing Club. Everything ran very well thanks especially to the many people who helped with this event. We had many fencers from the club competing and medals were won by – Ayman El Amrani (Under 12 Boys Foil) – 1st, Nathan Doherty (Under 16 Boys Foil) – 1st, Alex Wakeman (Under 16 Boys Foil) 3rd. Beginners Course Starting on Wednesday!!
Sheffield Buccaneers Fencing Club is running an 6 week fencing beginners courses to start on Wednesday 6th March……i.e. THIS WEDNESDAY!!!!! The course will take place from 7.00pm till 8.30pm alongside the regular fencing club, which is based at – Birkdale School Sports Hall, Oakholme Road. Sheffield S10 3DH . The sessions cover the range of techniques and skills involved in fencing with the foil. The cost for the course is £50.00. Those taking part should wear tracksuit bottoms and trainers, all other equipment will be provided. Application forms and other information can be got from our website. Helen Solly is Yorkshire Champion – Again!!
Helen Solly who coaches and fences at Sheffield Buccaneers Fencing Club won the Yorkshire Regional Foil Championships at the weekend in York winning convincingly in the final against Emma Kurtis from Hymers College. This victory makes it 2 years in a row for Helen.
